Watching the Fight
Watching the Fight?
Hey, do you like a good fight?
I used to love to box! I didn’t like getting hit that much but to see someone’s face when you lay a nice heavy right hook...it’s pretty cool...if you like that kinda thing. Now that I am much older and a little wiser I have found it is WAY more fun to watch a good fight! Two warriors duking it out to see who will be the dominate one...yeah, that’s pretty cool...and it is painless! The worst thing that happens to me when I watch a fight is I could pull a muscle getting up too fast for a between round bathroom break lol.
Now, everybody knows Psalm 23, especially the beginning, “The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want” but the last two verses are not as quoted...but man are they powerful! You see, My Shepherd protects me from my enemies! If they come around, He fights them, for me! He makes the enemy watch me watch them get beat down! The verses say, “Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: Thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: And I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.” Do you see that? I have a table at the fight! I get to watch My Shepherd beat down my enemies, all the while He lets me watch the fight! The enemy can’t even chase me, because the only thing chasing me is My Shepherd’s goodness and mercy...and I get to do all this from His House! (that’s a plug for holy living and for the church!).
Want to know why so many of us feel like we are in the fight instead of watching it? More than likely it’s because we are still in the enemy’s corner taking punches from the One who wants to be our Shepherd...let that simmer for a bit.
