What Never Fails?
“This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.”
‭‭John‬ ‭15‬:‭12‬

What is the one thing that never fails but we fail to do it? It’s the one word we throw around more than just about any other yet we hardly understand what it really means. We long to know it but struggle to show it. We are hard wired to need it yet we will begrudge to give it to those who need it most.
It is really patient when it’s really given.
It is good, gentle, & kind when we are not.
It is not selfish.
It has no pride.
It doesn’t act out.
It seeks to be a benefit to others.
It doesn’t sweat the little things.
It doesn’t assume the worst.
It doesn’t reward what is wrong but rejoices what is right.
It puts up with imperfection.
It gives the benefit of doubt.
It looks for the good as it works through the bad.
It refuses to quit...
It is Love...the willing sacrificial giving of one’s self for the benefit of another without the thought of return.
It is exactly who Christ is...God is love, not God does love, but He is love.
His command to us, His kids that He loves, is simple...love like He does. That’s what John 15:12 says, “YOU love one another, as I have loved you.”
The problem is that we cannot love like He does until we surrender to His love for us. The problem is we continually try to redefine love so that it fits who we are. But God doesn’t want us to love the best the we can. That is not the command.
I want to challenge you today to ask God to help you understand just how He defines love as you surrender to what He has already given you. Then don’t quit...because love refuses to quit!
