Come In
Come In!
Have you ever heard the door bell and then have a crazy 90 seconds of “straightening up”?
Or someone calls and says, “Hey, I’m coming over, be there in 10 minutes” and you need 3 days to clean up the house? As a pastor, I’m to be hospitable and have folks over, all the time, but I don’t always have people over, because I don’t always have things cleaned up.
In Revelation 3:20 Jesus is speaking to His people and says, “Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.”
I remember before I was pastor and my pastor would come over...man would we have to do a mad dash clean to make sure everything was in order before he got there...I would have to put my cigarettes and some other things away so “he didn’t know”. Looking back it was pretty silly. He was just coming over to encourage me and get to know me better.
Jesus, the Redeemer of mankind wants to come into your life, sit down, share some time with you as you share your life with Him. He doesn’t invite Himself in and He never refuses a real invitation. What an amazing thought that the God of all Creation wants to share close intimate time with us! He want’s to help us clean up the mess our life is in! He’s knocking...on your door...right now...waiting for you to say, “Come In!”
Do you know why most of us won’t let Him in? We’re ashamed of how our life really is and are under some delusion that we can’t let Him in until we fix things not realizing we will never make it clean enough, but He can...let that simmer for a bit.
