Christmas...Christ...more...Merry Christmas! Be happy with more Christ. Be joyous with more Christ. Be content with more Christ. Be fulfilled with more Christ. Be loved with more Christ.
Nah, let’s make Christmas about us. Be miserable with what you have. Be stressed about what you don’t have. Be selfish about what you want.
Oh, no, Larry, I am all about giving to others...O.K...be miserable with the fact that you are forgetting someone. Be stressed about who will be disappointed. Be selfless yet unaware of what this season is about.
I love Christmas...don’t get me wrong. I love seeing my grandkids get excited about Santa Clause. I love watching my kids get how it really is more blessed to give than receive. I love seeing the people in my life joyful and excited. But what I want more than anything is that my grandkids, my kids, my wife, my church family, my extended family, my friends, and those I interact with to see that I really want more Christ.
The Bible tells us this, from King David, ”Glory ye in his holy name: Let the heart of them rejoice that seek the LORD.“ What a cool thought. When is the last time you got excited about the very name of God? He is the GREAT HIGH COVENANT KEEPING GOD! When is the last time you just rejoiced about His existence, His presence, His goodness, His love for you...in His very person?
I want to encourage you to let Christmas be about More Christ! Let this be a time when you decide to focus on who He is and what He is as you glory in Him, rejoice in Him, and seek to see Him in this season.
So, Be Happy with More Christ...or Merry Christmas!
