How Can I Show Mercy?
How Can I Show Mercy?
”But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil. Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful.“
Luke 6:35-36
The Bible says in Luke 6:35, “Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful.”
How can I show mercy? How can I be kind and generous to someone who couldn’t care less about me? How do I not lash out and speak my mind to someone who has mistreated me or someone in my family?
1. Think about the wrongs I have done against Christ. How that I have failed to live for Him time and again. I have made Him look bad in front of others. I have put Him on the cross, time and again. Yet God, my Heavenly Father shows me mercy.
2. Obey God’s Law. Love Him with all that I am, and love my neighbor as myself. The verse before this one tells how to be merciful! We love our enemies, be good to them, give of ourselves to them. This is being like Christ!
Think about this, if you can’t show God’s mercy to those you don’t want to, have you really known God’s mercy? Let that Simmer for a Bit.
