Something Special
Something Special
“But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light: which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.”
1 Peter 2:9-10
If ever there was a time when we struggle with our identity in this world, it is now. It is nothing strange to see someone who is obviously a man or a woman yet they have identified as another gender. Look, I know how I was born, and I know how I identify if were talking about just who I am as a person, but that doesn’t make me who I am in Christ. Who I am in Christ has nothing to do with who/what I was born as. This passage is so powerful in stating my identity in Christ!
1. I am Chosen in Christ! This means He picked to love and redeem me!
2. I am a Royal Priest in Christ! I have been given the power to be a child of God and one who represents Him here as I allow others to see His identity in me, not my own.
3. I am made Holy! Dude...this is awesome because it means I can stand before God because I have the Holiness of Christ on me!
4. I am Peculiar! I know some of you that know me chuckled at that, because you thought, “oh you’re peculiar alright”. But that word doesn’t mean odd or strange, it means I am something special in the eyes of God!
Why? Why does God give us this new identity IN Christ? Well first, because He loves us! Second, because there are so many people who identify as what they want as they walk around in the darkness of this sinful world and God loves them too! We who have found His mercy have to let Christ be our identity so that others will find His mercy and get their new identity too! Let’s just strive to identify as Christ today!
