Limitation Imitation
Limitation Imitation
“Beloved, follow not that which is evil, but that which is good. He that doeth good is of God: but he that doeth evil hath not seen God.”
3 John 1:11
It seems like I have said this a lot lately, but your life will show what you believe. Faith in whatever it may be will produce action in your life. God through His wonderful Word has told us that if we put our faith in Him and His Son as we become a living sacrifice that His indwelling Spirit will help us see how we can live like Christ through obedience to His Word. 3 John 1:11 says, “Beloved, follow not that which is evil, but that which is good. He that doeth good is of God: but he that doeth evil hath not seen God.” This is how we imitate that which is good, as that Christ IS Good! God’s Word IS Good! God’s Spirit is Good! Now there may be other things that we follow from time to time that in themselves are not evil but where will they take us? It is wise for the child of God to be very mindful of what it is that we make our lives about, even for a season. That is what “imitating” is talking about. When we imitate something, we take on that persona, we make ourselves about whatever it is we are trying to be a copy of. When we make ourselves a copy of anything other than Christ, we then risk that those who need to see Christ may not get the chance. Most of us are following or imitating something. Most of us follow the most wicked thing there is according to Scripture...that is our heart. As a parent, I understand that there are few copies of me running around at times, my hope is that they saw Who I was imitating and that it wasn’t me. Let that simmer for a bit.
