Living in the Dark
Living in the Dark
“The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light: they that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the light shined.”
Isaiah 9:2
Jesus is the Light of this World as well as the Light in Eternity to Come!
Did you know that the Bible says that man is a lover of darkness...isn’t that crazy! God has done His best to help us to know that He has light for all to walk in. That Light is Jesus! He tells us in Isaiah, “The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light: they that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the light shined.” God is literally saying, “Hey, if you are My child, I have shown you the Light, if you are in darkness now, you made that choice.” Why on earth do we choose to “dwell in the land of the shadow of death” or to simply live in darkness? Easy Answer, because the Light reveals the darkness of sin in our lives, and we like to have our secret sins...don’t we?
Jesus said something like this in John chapter 3, “all that do evil hates the light, and hates the thought of coming into the light because they know that who they really are will be revealed”. Do you know what happens when I dwell in the dark? I get hurt...I hurt others...and most importantly, there are things that lurk in the dark that want to keep me there until I completely give in to the darkness.
So, what do we do? Great Question! Did you know you cannot see where you’re going in the dark? I know, your mind is blown...we need light in order to navigate even the most simple steps. The first and only thing we can and should do is to allow God’s Word to be the lamp for your feet and the light for your path. Pray! Ask God to show you how to allow the Light to shine on you so you know how to start walking away from the darkness, after all that is why God gave us light...so we really have no excuse to stay in the dark, other that we choose to...let that simmer for a bit.
