Christ, A Sound Investment
Christ, A Sound Investment
”But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully.“
2 Corinthians 9:6
I am not a salesman...I have never been a salesman...yet back in 2006 God led me from a man that works with his hands to working in insurance...rather in the selling of health & life insurance. I don’t think God could have directed me, a simple minded nuts and bolts guy to a more strange vocation. To say that I struggled emotionally, physically, and financially over the course of the next two years would be a gross understatement. When I knew it was God’s direction for my life I was kind of excited because I thought, “well, God is going to help me have more wealth, since I will be in control of how much I can make.” Man was I sorely mistaken! God did move me to that vocation, but the why wouldn’t be revealed to me for a while.
God used me to help a few families out through those two years for sure. God also helped me understand that ministry is about investment. If I wanted to sell a policy I had to make 100 cold calls to get 10 appointments to make 1 sale. It was an investment of my time. What I came to understand later is that ministry is much like sales. If I want to see 1 soul come to Christ, it is going to take some Larry investing himself into what God has left me here to do.
If you are a born again child of God, you are not here to make wealth...not that making wealth is a bad thing, but that is not your reason to exist. It is not to make a big family, have a great job, serve in your community, or even your church. No, your reason for existence is to invest all that you are into all that Christ is!
I did learn about investments and dividends in my short stint in that world. I know that the more you invest into a good investment, the more dividends you will receive. There is no greater investment in the life of the Child of God than Christ! He is not a fluctuating market, He is sound, secure, safe, and solid! 1 Corinthians 9:6 tells us, ”But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully.“ You want more out of your life in Christ, put more of your life in Christ! Let that simmer for a bit.
