Got Swag?!
”And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: and if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.“
1 John 5:14-15
There are those that simply do not struggle with confidence. They have what I think is called today swag lol. People with confidence don’t worry about things. Those who have this confidence in their walk, and confidence in how they talk, and they have this confidence about them that you know, they know what they’re doing.
I have days where I have that type of confidence and then I have days where I have no idea what’s going on where I’m going or what I’m doing. My swag is in a bag somewhere and I just don’t know where I left it.
Well as a child of God, I should have a great swagger when I pray to my Heavenly Father...I mean He told me I can talk to Him. He told me I could ask Him anything! In 1 John chapter 5 it says, ”And this is the confidence that we have in Him, that, if we ask any thing according to His will, He heareth us: and if we know that He hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of Him.“ Did you catch that?
I love the part where I can ask God for anything I want! I mean...give me a Black Ram TRX Lord, fully decked, right!? But did you catch that “other part” where I have to ask “according to His will”...What?! What does that mean?
God wants me to have what I need to live. God want’s me to have what I want...as long as I want Him. If what I want is for me, about me, and will only be about me...how is that God’s Will...that’s just mine. You might say, “ok, Larry, how do I know what is His will?” Well I heard a man one time say this, “you will never know God’s will outside of God’s will”. You might be thinking...that’s just circle talk...but it’s not. If you want to be in God’s Will and know God’s Will, you have to do what you know God wants you to do...and I don’t care who you are, He wants you to know Him! Read His Word looking to hear Him. Pray seeking to reach Him. Tell others who He is to you...give your life to Him...if you do these things...you will have more swag in your prayer life than you know how to handle! Let that simmer for a bit.
