He is Our Greatest Gift
He Is Our Greatest Gift
“For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.”
Isaiah 9:6
Did you ever stop to think that Jesus truly is the greatest gift man has ever received!
When Moses was told by God that he would go and deliver Israel from over 400 years of slavery Moses asked God, “Well who do I tell the Israelites has sent me?” God simply replied, “I AM that I AM”...or I am God, the wonderful promise keeping, direction giving, all powerful, eternal God of Heaven that created all things, and you can simply trust me!
Now here a century or so later, Isaiah is trying to tell the Israel that another deliverer was coming. This time God wasn’t picking a mortal man to deliver them, but that He was coming Himself! God’s gift to man was God! Isaiah says, “For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.”
What Isaiah wanted Israel and us, he did say unto US, to know that the answer to all our problems was coming! Jesus is coming to take control of all things...He is the king of kings! Jesus has all the directions we need when we don’t know where to go or what to do! Jesus IS the All-Powerful God of Heaven, mightier than the mightiest! Jesus is the eternal God of Heaven...Jesus is the only place for any of US to find real peace.
Seriously, can you think of a greater gift than this. Sinful man headed to a devil’s hell, separated from our Creator God for all eternity, simply has to trust that Jesus is God, that He came to save us from our sin...or our bondage (remember Israel), and that He wants to be the answer to all our issues...let that simmer for a bit.
