Happy New Year/Life
Happy New Year...New Life
“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”
2 Corinthians 5:17
I was asked the other day if I knew when B.C. turned to A.D., as to whether it was at the birth or the death of Christ. I had to be honest and say, “I don’t know”. I’ve thought about that for a couple days and as we look to embark on a new year I can’t help but notice, time matters. It matters to me what time I get up and take on the day. It matters to me what day and date it is as that I have things scheduled all the time. It matters that 2024 is coming to an end...today, and that tomorrow isn’t just a new day, but the beginning of a new year...Happy new year by the way.
As I think about how we mark time and value time and need time I notice something about life and maybe it most valuable commodity, time. Christ did start time...you know in the beginning. Christ split time, B.C. to A.D.. Christ is giving time. We have time today to become what Christ died to make us to be. Christ gave His life so that we, a bunch of sinners, condemned to die, might have life. We have time to repent from said sin and turn to Jesus our Savior! Maybe you’re thinking, “Oh, I have done that...Jesus is my Savior!” Great! Praise the Lord!!! But let me ask you this, when He saved you, did it change the time in your life? 2 Corinthians 5:17 says, “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” So, I want to ask you again. When you were “born again”, did how you spend your time, who you spend your time with, what you take time to pursue...did all these things change? If the God who split B.C. from A.D for all time dwells in you, did His presence in your life split your time? Does the time you spend reflect that the Creator of Time changed you from what was old to something new?
Let that simmer for a bit.
