Thy Word
Thy Word
“Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, And a light unto my path.”
Psalm 119:105
I cannot stand it when I am walking in a dark room! I mean it is pretty much a forgone conclusion that I am going to run into something, trip over something, or stub my toe. Even when I am in a familiar place I have great trepidation to walk around in the dark. My own bedroom is a very familiar place, yet I don’t want to just walk around all willy-nilly because I’m certain there will be pain. We have this air filter in our bathroom that emits a very small amount of light, yet it is just enough to illuminate my path to, well the place I go too often in the middle of the night, so that I don’t hurt myself. It is just a very small amount of light, but I am very thankful for it.
God’s Word is all the light we need to walk in this dark world. It should give God’s children great reservation to walk in this world without something shedding light as we go. Take today for instance...if this verse is all the Bible you read for the day, even it’s small amount of illumination into your life could keep you from harm. What if you read more? How much light is too much? Better question, why would you ever choose to walk without it?
