You Can Because He Is!
“But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.”
Romans 8:11
Over the years there have been some bad habits that I have had to let go of. Each one bringing this wretched flesh into submission to God’s Spirit. I would love to say that every habit has went quietly into the night...but that is not how it works for me. My flesh LOVES what my flesh loves so when my flesh I start to deny, my flesh, Oh, does it lie! It doesn’t lie down and die, no that would be too easy. It begins to try to convince me that life cannot go on if the desires aren’t met. That it will be too hard to live without whatever it is I’m trying to give up. I’m so glad that I don’t have to come up with the strength to combat the lies and the weeping and mourning and well, basically a toddler temper tantrum. You see, upon placing my trust in the One True God and His Loving Son Jesus Christ, their Holy Spirit placed inside of me a perfect, sinless, powerful spirit, born of Grace through Faith in Christ’s love for me! When this spirit dwelling inside of me is being nourished through the Word of God it has GREAT POWER to overcome this wicked sinful flesh! I love the verse in 1 John that reminds me that “greater is He that is in you (God’s Spirit) than he that is in the world (my flesh).”
Now I know for a fact that at least one of you reading our blog this morning is thinking, well, that is just pointed at me because Larry knows what’s going on...lol, I am not that good! This verse is what came up in my Bible app today as the verse of the day, God just knew someone needed to give some nourishment to their in dwelling spirit. Remember, the battle is on but it’s not yours, however the victory is. You can win because He is victorious!
