How Does He Heal?
How Does He Heal?
“He healeth the broken in heart, And bindeth up their wounds.”
Psalm 147:3
I would have to say that everyone knows how it feels to have your heart broken. As a young child it could be you didn’t get the present you wanted. As you get older into your pre-teen years it could be the loss of a loved one. Life continues in your teen years and it could be that you give your heart to someone only to have them hurt you. This cycle continues in your 20’s until you find the One. The person you will spend your life with. You choose each other yet as the years go by it seems cyclic that you take turns breaking each other’s hearts over a myriad of things. As you begin to have children they grow and take the heart break to another level. I believe it is safe to say that we can all attest to know what a broken heart feels like. Jesus knows exactly what a broken heart feels like.
He came to save a people that still reject Him to this day. He gave His life, shed His precious blood to deliver us from the power and penalty of sin and even those that claim His blood for their lives still break His heart...OOHH, Jesus knows what a broke heart feels like.
So How does God heal our broken hearts? He says He does in His Word. “He healeth the broken in heart, And bindeth up their wounds.” (Psalm 147) Watch this now! He forgives those that have wronged Him...Those that have broken the heart of the Father stand forgiven for what they have done to His Only Begotten Son, if they stand IN the Son. Jesus Christ when on the Cross for you and I asked His Holy Father to forgive us, because we had no idea what we were doing.
So, is your heart broken right now? As you think of the one who is guilty of bringing you hurt, does the bitterness spring up and make you feel it all over again? Does it make you want to hurt them back? Or let everyone know just how wrong they are? Well, if you want God to heal that heart of yours and bind up those wounds, you’re going to have to forgive them. It is just an act of obedience to God and Jesus. You might say, “I can’t do that? I don’t know how!” It’s okay, God knows that and will help you, but you have to take the first step. Maybe ask God to help you understand just how much He has forgiven you, then do it like that.
