Above All Is Love
“And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins.”
1 Peter 4:8
Am I the only one that has a hard time with loving people I don’t want to love? I could go down a list of reasons why I don’t love this person or that person.
They talk too loud.
They think they’re better than me.
They think they’re smarter than me.
They said this about me.
They don’t do things the way I want them done.
They were mean to my kids.
They hurt my family.
They cuss too much for me.
They are addicted to drugs.
They drink too much.
They try to make me look bad in front of others.
They cheated on me.
They abandoned me.
They hate me.
They don’t know Jesus.
They have never really seen how much God loves them.
They are an image bearer of Christ.
They don’t know Jesus.
They may have never seen Jesus.
They need to see Jesus.
How will they see Jesus?
How is God going to reach them?
I know Jesus.
He has changed my life!
He said I am supposed to love Him and love them.
How can I love them?
How does He love me?
I have done all those things to Him.
I am no better than they are...
I need to show them Jesus
Lord Help me show them Jesus.
Lord, Love them through me.
God tells us this in 1 Peter 4, “And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins.” Or we could say it like this, above all things have unfailing love for anyone that is not you, real love, God’s love, covers a multitude of sins.
This means that above all that they are and what they’ve may have done, above all that I am is the I AM, above all that I feel, I am to obey in love for Christ as I love like Christ.
